TESTIMONIAL OF PETE AND KAREN GRISWOLD

Pete and I met a wonderful woman in Mexico back in May, 2007. It turns out she was from St. Kitts. She told us to let her know ahead of time if we ever planned a visit to her beautiful island of St. Kitts, as she would be happy to help with our travel plans. She just so happens to know all the right people in St. Kitts!!

One night in June, we and our friends discussed taking a cruise in October. We decided on and purchased a cruise that would stop in St. Kitts.  As soon as it was official, I contacted our friend from St. Kitts. She gave me information and asked me to call her one month prior to our departure date. At that point, she would contact someone in St. Kitts to be our tour guide for the day.

In September, a close friend of ours passed away. It made me look at life a bit differently. My girlfriend was now a single mom raising not only her own child but also her grandchild. I started thinking about what I would do if I were to lose Pete. It was not a good feeling. This caused us to re-evaluate our relationship.

Pete and I had been together for so long that we didn’t really feel that we needed to be married officially. He and I both knew we would be together forever - no matter what. However, my thoughts were now changing. He and I discussed it, and we decided (at the last minute) to get married on St. Kitts. It would be perfect for us, since we both love the islands, beach, and the ocean. I called my friend, and she directed me to Christine Walwyn of Walwyn Consulting. By this time, it was already October 10, and our cruise was scheduled to leave October 22. Ms. Walwyn didn’t have much time!

Ms. Walwyn and I were in touch via email. She asked pertinent questions – I answered them. I explained what Pete and I wanted and what we did not want. She quoted pricing and advised us of what our itinerary would be for the day. She assured us all would be taken care of.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, I was not in contact with Ms. Walwyn prior to our cruise ship setting sail. Once I was on the ship, I did not plan on getting anywhere near a computer, so I never did get to email her for specifics. I was a bit nervous, but I just left it up to God. The night before arriving in St. Kitts, we received a message from the Purser’s desk. Ms. Walwyn had somehow contacted the ship to let us know she would be waiting on the pier when we arrived in St. Kitts the next morning! We couldn’t believe it! We were very pleased that she went out of her way to get that message to us. It was a great relief!!

The next morning, Ms. Walwyn was waiting for us at the end of the pier – “Welcome Peter Griswold & Karen Fingado” sign in hand. She had arranged for a wonderful driver, Ashley, to take us to the home of the Justice of Peace. It was a Saturday, and the government offices were closed. Ms. Walwyn actually was able to get us an appointment at this man’s home, so we could sign the documents needed prior to getting married. Wow! That was impressive!

Ashley and Ms. Walwyn then drove us to a memorial park where we took advantage of the scenery for a photo opportunity.   From there, we were taken on a tour of Basseterre, all the while listening to Ashley give us an overview of the history of St. Kitts. It was quite interesting. We then went to the offices of Walwyn Consulting where we were introduced Reverend Father Isaiah Phillip, who would preside over our wedding. This was one of the best surprises of all! I was under the assumption that we were to be married by the Justice of the Peace. I was extremely happy that Ms. Walwyn was able to find a Christian minister on such short notice!! This really meant a lot to both Pete and I.

Finally, we all drove to South Frigate Bay where the wedding took place.  The sky was a bit overcast, but the air was warm. The beach was lovely, with large waves lapping at the sand. In the distance behind us was the sister island of Nevis. Next door was the Oasis Bar and Restaurant. This place had everything we wanted!!!  The marriage ceremony was short and sweet and very special!! The setting was perfect! And, Ashley took pictures throughout the entire ceremony.

After the wedding ceremony, Ms. Walwyn pulled out a chilled bottle of champagne. We all indulged in a glass and toasted to life! At this point, Ms. Walwyn told us good-bye. So far, she had done a wonderful job, and we were completely satisfied. We were left at the beach for a few hours to enjoy the water, the sun, the sand, the excellent lobster, and the ice cold beer. It was great fun!!!!

Ashley picked us up later in the afternoon. We thought our day was over, but it was not! He drove us to a beautiful look-out point where we could see the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other! It was an excellent place for taking pictures. But, that wasn’t all. We then were taken to a restaurant in town. Along the way, Ashley turned up his radio. The DJ announced our wedding and congratulated us on air. It was so great that he took the time to have that done for us. Well, he didn’t stop there…..a few minutes later, on another station, the same thing happened. That was too cool! We finally arrived at the restaurant where we found a wonderful surprise – a little monkey named Lindsay. We all fell in love with him!!! His owner allowed us to feed the little guy, and it was a great way to end our day on St. Kitts. Ashley then took us back to our ship, and we were off!

It was truly a most memorable and wonderful day! We are so grateful to have been treated so special on this very important day! Ms. Walwyn did a fantastic job – especially with the short notice! It could not have been any better!!! We highly recommend Walwyn Consulting to everyone!!!!!! As a matter of fact, when we go back to St. Kitts, we will use Ms. Walwyn and her company once again to help with our travel plans.
